Happiness is what nature desires. In other words, it is the universe’s basic nature ‘to be happy’. Every animal, living being, is happy by nature. But the only living being with evolved mind, who can choose The Ultimate Bliss of Happiness is Humans. But still we struggle to know “how to be happy with yourself”, in fact we crave to know “how to be happier”. That is to say ‘How to be Happy always’.
The dictionary meaning of Happiness is:
feeling or showing pleasure or contentment.“
With these words, we can shortly say that happiness has a direct link with pleasure and contentment.
Firstly, in order to understand how to be happy again, let’s start with the topic of ‘pleasure’, where in one or more of our five senses are pleased to get happiness.
To start with, humans have mainly 5 senses. And they are touch, sight, hearing, smell and taste.
These senses plays a pivotal role in your happiness. But, this same happiness can be dangerous for your mind and body when it comes to learning “How to be happy alone?”.
Further, no school teaches about understanding “how to always be happy?” and training the 5 senses. That is to say, these senses can play a major role in your journey to have a blissful life.
Whenever one of your senses is pleased, your happy feeling is triggered. And your mind will want to have that same feel again.
Further, this will play a catalyst role to make you repeat the same thing again, that pleases the senses.
And this is the reason why many people get different addictions. It is actually their minds urge to seek happiness. As if, mind compulsively says “I need to be happy.”
So does it mean there is good happiness and bad happiness?
It is better to say that good and bad is just a tag that our mind gives. In other words, we can say that every happiness has its own consequence.
“You can mock someone and be happy”, “You can cheat and be happy”; but all those are temporary happiness and the actions will have its consequence which will lead you to sadness.
Moreover, Happiness can also be achieved with the contentment feeling. For instance, You have a task in hand and you finish it on time, you will feel contented. And this will trigger the happy feeling in you.
This is a very effective way to be happy, but it is a sweet trap in itself. If you are chained with iron or gold, being chained in itself is a trap.
But the best part is, in order to get this happiness you will start to complete all your work. Which will boost you to progress in your life towards material success.
Everybody seeks completeness, and this way, finishing all your incomplete work will help you to feel contented and happy.
The sweet trap here is that you will always have to do something to be happy. Your mind won’t allow you to sit in place. Because of which, you will most of the time feel restless and empty, and once you retire you will struggle with this habit as you won’t be able to sit in peace.
Now, come on, like death, retirement is also one truth that we all have to accept. Many young minds have this illusion that they are gonna live forever.
Believe it or not, You will someday retire or try to retire from your material works.
So which happiness to seek?
Different kinds of happiness:
If we have to divide happiness in two main segments, then it will be:
- Inner Happiness
- Outer Happiness
1. Inner Happiness:
It is, where the reason for your Happiness is inside of you.
This is the true happiness that we should seek. Further. Happiness has no reason. In fact Happiness in itself is a reason.
Moreover, Our true nature is Happiness. And it comes from the source inside of you, which is the real you.
We have so much happiness stored inside of us that “Happiness in itself is the reason to life”. But the mind portrays it as “Live to seek happiness” which is far from truth.
We have never questioned our mind, our identity. Have we? Everything that we attach our ‘I’ with, is actually an illusion. It is just mind’s information or perception of how things are.
In short, our complete identity is false for that matter.

2. Outer Happiness:
It is, where our reason for Happiness is outside of our body perimeter. This is a very temporary form of happiness which can’t last long.
But the funny fact is almost more than 90% of us seek for this happiness. Further, it has more to do with our five senses as discussed above.
Also Everything is linked with the mind. So this is false happiness.
That is why this saying “It is all there in the mind”
We all seek for material things to be happy. It is not bad to possess material things. But linking your happiness with material things, is actually a curse.
How to be happy?
Firstly, accept this fact that it is very much possible to be happy in each and every moment.
That is to say, Our minds have this information stored that happiness and sadness is a part of our lives. Which is not true at all.
It is just how the mind has perceived things to be.
Consequently, life is absolutely uncertain, there is no doubt in it. Even the pandemic Covid has proved it.
Moreover, We cannot decide on what happens in the outside but we definitely have the power to control our responses.
And with correct response comes correct outcome.
Further, how to decide a correct response?
If what you are feeling is happy, then that moment the response will be a correct response.
Ultimately, happiness is the one that connects you with your true potential.
Firstly, you cannot think and live every moment accepting the uncertainty. You need to let go of your thoughts with the power of ‘Observation’.
There is an abstract statement that we get to hear in many forums, that is to control the mind. Which is a completely fictional theory that is being commercialized for the benefits of a few who is promoting it.
Believe me, brain is way too powerful than you can imagine. And You cannot control your thoughts. In other words you cannot have positive thoughts all throughout.
But like I said, response is always in your hands. It is one thing that you can control.
That is, How much power to give to any thought is in your control. And that decides the quality of the outcome.
So letting go of your thoughts is one thing that you can do.
But do not force or resist the thoughts, it is again same like giving power to it.
Just observe, observe and observe.
‘Thoughts will dissolve by itself.‘
So if you ask me how to be happier, one habit you need to develop is ‘Observation’.
Observe every tiny bit of how your body moves to how your mind functions.
With this observation you will get the power to accept uncertainty with ease which will lead you to that Ultimate Happiness.
